Seminar with Martial Arts America July 15th 12:30 to 3:30pm at the Hub

There is a collaborative seminar with MAA on July 15th from 12:30 to 3:30. Brown belts age 14 and above are invited to attend. Brown belts 13 and younger may ask their instructor.  The cost is 10 dollars and family is 20 dollars.

We will begin practicing in the Whittier Elementary Gym

(1306 West Salem, Indianola, IA 50125)

Class Schedule:

·        Monday- Beginners @ 6 pm/Advanced @ 7 pm

·        Wednesday- Colored Belts @ 6 pm/Adults @ 7 pm

·        Thursday- Beginners @ 6 pm/Advanced @ 7 pm

(Little Dragons are at 6:30 on Mondays and Thursdays)

Directions:

·         Take J Street north off of highway 92 (By Tim McConnell Photography).

·         Go left on W. Boston Avenue up hill

·         Turn left into parking lot on north side of Whittier Elementary

·         After parking, go in north door and straight down hallway to gym

World tai chi and Qi Gong day on Saturday April 29th

World tai chi and Qi Gong day on Saturday April 29th. The event will be held at the Southside YMCA on Army Post Road. This is a world wide event. All practitioners will practice tai chi at 10am. Shortly after various tai chi and Qi Gong stations will be available for students to learn and practice.

Agenda

  • 9:10am-stretching
  • 9:30 school demonstrations
  • 10am mass practice
  • after mass practice two 30 minute sessions of tai chi learning
  • closing-silent standing

Masters Promotions by Grandmaster Jung 12/9/2016

GM Jung will be arriving at TRMA on 12-9-16 for Friday night class to promote black belts who tested at Cedar Rapids. He will be there at the start of class for promotions. This is open for anyone to attend and celebrate our senior black belts. Let's have a strong showing of support . Immediately after Mr Jung will be leaving to promote Martial Arts America senior students.

Tai Chi schedule

Tai Chi class will be held this coming Saturday after Thanksgiving on November 26th at the regular time at 9am

On November 30th Tai chi class will be held at 7:30PM. There is no Tai chi class on Saturday December 3rd due to Cedar Rapids testing.

On December 7th Tai Chi class will be held at 8pm. There is no Tai chi class on Saturday December 10th due to color belt testing.

Saturday, May 13th, 2017, at Valley Southwoods Freshman High School, West Des Moines.

Family friendly traditional Tae Kwon Do tournament for ages 5 through adult. 

Registration- 9:00 A.M.
Black Belt Meeting – 9:30 A.M.
Opening Ceremony – 10:00 A.M.

Events include forms, board breaking, sparring, 
and a newly added grand champion weapons forms competition.

Directions to Valley Southwoods:
From Interstate 35 both southbound and northbound:
  1. Exit at Mills Civic Parkway, exit 70
  2. Turn east on Mills Civic ( Northbound, turn right.  Southbound turn left after exiting )
  3. Go straight at the next two lights ( S 51st and S 50th ).
  4. Turn right at the next light onto Fuller Rd ( about 600 ft past S 50th )
  5. Continue on Fuller Rd. about 0.4 miles
  6. Turn left into the Valley Southwoods parking lot just after the tennis courts. If you miss this turn and get to a stop sign, turn left onto S. 35th at the stop sign and take the next driveway on the left into the Valley Southwoods parking lot.
If you miss Fuller Rd., you can continue on Mills Civic to S. 35th and turn right.  There's no traffic light at this intersection, but it's about 0.3 miles after passing the football stadium.  You will find an entrance to Valley Southwoods on the right as you drive south on S. 35th.  If you reach a stop sign, turn right onto Fuller Rd. and the next driveway on the right is another entrance to Valley Southwoods.

Holiday Party and Annual Meeting January 7, 2017

The TRMA Holiday Party and Annual Meeting are scheduled for Saturday, January 7, beginning at 6pm.  The event will be held at the Fred Maytag Scout Building, 6321 Scout Trail, Des Moines (see the map).  It is right off of Hwy 28/SE 1st St across from Brown's Woods.  TRMA will provide meat and drinks.  We ask families to provide a side-item (chips, salad, fruit, pasta, whatever you like).
